Benha University Ranked Among the World’s Top 300 in Five Scientific Disciplines by Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2026

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced that the newly released Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2026 has placed the university among the world’s leading institutions in five disciplines: Veterinary Science and Agricultural Sciences within the Life Sciences field, Mathematics within the Natural Sciences, Food Science & Technology, and Instruments Science & Technology within Engineering.

He emphasized that the university’s advancement in global rankings reflects its strategic commitment to enhancing research outputs and building the scientific and research capacities of young scholars.

Prof. El-Gizawy noted that the Shanghai Ranking of Academic Subjects, launched in 2009, evaluates universities across more than 57 scientific fields spanning Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences. The 2026 edition assessed over 2,000 universities from 100 countries worldwide.

Prof. Gehan Abdel-Hadi, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, highlighted that Benha University was ranked in the 101–150 band globally in Food Science & Technology and Veterinary Science, and in the 201–300 band in Mathematics, Agricultural Sciences, and Instruments Science & Technology. The Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research further noted that, at the national level, Benha University ranked first in Scientific and Technological Instruments, jointly with Alexandria and Cairo Universities. It also achieved second place in Food Science and Technology, and likewise came second in Mathematics, alongside Cairo and Zagazig Universities. In Veterinary Science, Benha was placed third, in partnership with Alexandria, Cairo, and Mansoura Universities. The university also secured third place in Agricultural Sciences, together with Suez Canal and Tanta Universities.

The President extended congratulations to the academic and administrative leadership, faculty members, and young researchers in the Faculties of Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture, and Engineering (Shoubra and Benha) for this distinguished achievement.

It is noteworthy that the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects relies on indicators tied to research and academic performance, including the quality and impact of published studies, citation metrics, international collaboration, faculty excellence, and outstanding research outputs. The 2026 edition draws on scientific production from 2021 to 2025.
